  1. We want to student to know the curriculum well enough to teach it. We will know if they have learned it if they can teach it. We can help students who have not learned the material learn from other students. The students that know the content will be teaching others.

    MVP- I like the idea of students teaching other students maybe an idea that could be used in 21st century as a session with those students teaching. If students don't have an outside of the class time to prepare the lessons is this benefiting the student teaching? I sometimes hesitate in having them help the students who do not understand because they are not advancing their knowledge. There needs to be a careful balance between using the students who understand helping those that don't and differentiation so those students can go on to learn new concepts.

  2. Kids Teaching Kids

    This article presented the idea of students taking on the leadership task of teaching a lesson to their peers. Students would need to know the topic well enough to teach it. Students would also need to understand how to prepare and present an engaging lesson. This would require them to meet with a teacher or group of teachers to learn the essentials of teaching. During the teaching and after the student teacher can reflect on how the lesson turned out in the end. Did the students learn what was expected, complete required tasks, etc. The student teacher can plan for interventions and reflect on how their lesson could be improved if taught again.

    MVP: The very last sentence of this article resonates with me. "the program...harnesses the natural energy that students display outside the classroom and brings it into the classroom to increase student motivation and engagement." I need to utilize the potential within my students to help teach and lead one another inside the classroom, as much as they do outside of the classroom.
