Our First Teacher Blog
Welcome to the first Goodrell Teacher Blog! It has been created with the intentions for us to share ideas, thoughts and questions as continue to grow and change and move like water as educators!
So Janelle and I have been working on the grading systems for next year incorporating rubrics, percents, etc. We think we might have a winner of an idea for use with Infinite Campus. Hopefully she will be posting this in the VERY NEAR future or at least will be discussing it on the 15th and 16th.
Janelle has continued pondering the issue. I think using the DMPS skills as the things that we grade along with using the MYP criterion as non-graded entries will work great to start.
I have continued working on grading. I am setting up rubrics for each of my units to match each DMPS skill on a 0-4 scale. The rubric has an IB flair by using some of the highlighted words in the IB rubric. E-mail me at my school e-mail and I will send you a copy.
Great class today on Block scheduling. Here is just a piece. Topic: Worksheets in the block Let kids work through these 3 modes. Respect mode: No talking, use a sheet to cover answers. Defense mode: work with partner on worksheeet-change are optionals, tell me why, justify, demonstrate how Consensus Mode: team of 4 work to complete a common worksheet. Captain of team fills in and breaks any ties about what the answer should be.
I have been trying to access this blog and have been unable to do it until tonight. I am finished with my first unit called "m i IB?" (Thanks Ann B for the great title) It is lesson's to teach my math students about Learner Profile, Math Rubrics and what math will be like this year.
I'm #1!!!! LOL

ReplyDeleteGood ideas but I feel that the projects should be the biggest part of the grade.. showing their learning and accomplishments...
